GoldenTrainer Vs. Bill O'Reilly:
On Thursday August 5, 2010, Bill O’Reilly decided to do a segment with 2 of his female colleagues in regards to the obesity rate in the United States. During the time, he stated, “I don’t care if people want to be chubby.” Also, “I don’t want people abusing their bodies with drugs & alcohol.” Also, “People medicate themselves with food.” Also, “Healthy food is more expensive than junk food.”
From the above, you can see that he provides the same excuses that many people use in the United States, which has led to the rapid increase of obesity in the United States. I think he fails to realize that chubby, fat and obese people all abuse their bodies. The higher than desirable weight, increases strain and pain on organs, joints and they lack muscle mass. Instead of using food to “medicate” themselves during depression, they should go for a run, get a weight resistance workout in, go for a bike ride, or even go to a playground with their kids. One of the other larger problems I have, is he fails to point out that people who are chubby, overweight and obese, have elevated risks of health problems, which increase all American’s insurance rates, which many of those who are chubby to obese seem to whine and complain about, while those of us who are working hard to live a healthy lifestyle pay the largest price, because we require little-to-no healthcare because of the work put into our bodies, outside of a doctor’s office.
The comment about “healthy food” being more expensive than “junk food.” Totally false! I can buy 3lbs of chicken and 8 buns for about $9, when it would cost me about $30 to buy 8 chicken sandwiches at a drive-thru/fast-food restaurant. The problem comes down to laziness! People are more willing to spend 20 minutes standing in line or sitting in their car at a drive-thru to get 8 chicken sandwiches instead of taking 20 – 25 minutes to make them themselves. Unfortunately, people try to be delicate in the way they approach things and tell people they are right. They don’t have time (20 minutes) to make dinner, so they should eat “something” and go to a drive-thru and sit for 20 minutes in line and waste money on gas as their vehicle sits on idle, while waiting on their food.
Conclusion: I do mind that you want to be lazy and chubby. You would do us all a favor by taking the time you would sit or stand at a fast-food restaurant and make your healthier food at home and save us all on elevated healthcare costs and you could play the role of being eco-friendly and save the fuel you are burning sitting at a drive-thru. Instead of sitting in a depressive somber at home with a bag of chips or box of cookies, do us all a favor and go to your gym, get outside or go knock the dust off the workout equipment you have let go to waste in your basement!
