Why Do Men Lose Weight Faster!?:
Why does it seem like I hear this question "too often?"
It is the time of year where couples go on the "New Years Resolution Binge" together. Usually the male that is 10lbs overweight goes on a diet with a female that feels she is 25lbs overweight. After a couple weeks, the male is usually 5 to 10lbs down and the female is stagnant. I am always asked, “why!?”
Well, from the outside looking in, most men rely on the female counter-part to make meals. Usually this means the male and female are eating relatively the same foods, portions, etc. If you do the simple calculations, a 6’ male weighing 180lbs needs about 2500 calories to maintain his weight or 2000 to lose weight. Meanwhile, the female counter-part that may be 5’ 6” 150lbs needs about 2200 calories to maintain or 1700 to start losing weight. If you can’t see it already, let me explain the problem to you!
For the male to get from 170 to 180 he was eating 3000 calories over the year. At the same time, the female counter-part may have been keeping up with him and went from 125 to 150. Now, while both of you may be cutting back the calories to 2000 calories, only 1 of you is going to see the benefit (unless you consider the female not putting more weight on, a benefit).
This is how relationships quickly go down the drain! It suddenly becomes the male, “being able to eat whatever he wants!” And being the reason the female becomes “fat” (in her words). This is why it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for both to write down EXACTLY what they are eating and yes, counting those dreaded calories! (Even the ones consumed 1 piece of candy at a time from the community dish at the work place!)
